debt

I made these 3 drawings on the occasion of finishing the book "Debt" by David Graeber.
I read the book with a local book club of cool people. as of writing this, I am in possibly six book clubs.
book club 1 - a book club of cartoonists and cartoonist-adjacents (comics publishers, writers) organized by my friend Sloane that has been meeting monthly on zoom since 2021. I think this book club is one of the top 3 institutions in my life. friend and fellow member Kris Mukai made us all dope shirts, below.

book club 2 - aforementioned local book club named "study action group," I have only read one book with them so far but we will gravitate towards critical theory, our next book is "End Times Fascism" by Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor.
book club 3 - local comics-only book club organized by Eleanor, so far we have read "They Were Eleven" by Moto Hagio and "Charity and Sylvia" by Tillie Walden.
book club 4 - perhaps would not be considered a book club by many, a friend and I are reading the new translation of Capital by Paul Reitter. recently I impulsively decided to make a lantern in the shape of this book for the atlanta lantern parade.

book clubs 5 and 6 - I think these would not be considered real book clubs by most, but they are regular reading groups organized by a publisher and a magazine, respectively, with zoom lectures to supplement.
are you in a book club? I can't recommend it enough. if you wish you had one, you can start one. you only need at least one other person. you can go at any sustainable pace. reading is fun!
