Tennis, Practice
All year I'd been looking forward to the last week in August because I'm Really Into Tennis. It's the week I get to go watch tennis in person for free at the US Open qualifying tournament. This year I wanted to try doing some live sketching so I brought a little sketchbook and a marker.
It was difficult since the players move around a lot! It was also really hot and I was trying to watch tennis so I did less drawing than I had hoped to. I had fun though, I'd like to try it again sometime. It took me a while to get warmed up but I think some of the sketches came out alright.
I also took a lot of photos. I have my camera set up for taking pictures of birds so I got some interesting shots using the continuous shooting feature. I love how balletic a lot of the movements are in tennis, and being able to see them frame by frame is really inspiring.

I made a short comic referencing some of the photos I took at Alexander Bublik's practice, where we also saw a merlin (small bird of prey) perched on the lights above the court.
